For the first time ever, Stagelights is presenting a full-blown pantomime – Aladdin. This will be a no-holds-barred traditional production, with live band, loads of
songs and dance, a mass of new costumes to make, seemingly tons of practical scenery to construct, and a full panoply of sound, lighting and other special effects, including even a fully functional laundry.
It will truly be a production for all the family – no better to chase away the blues in January than to lose yourself on a Magic Carpet following the adventures of Aladdin and Jasmine, the bustling of Widow Twankee, the evil machinations of Abanazar, the bungling of Ping and Pong, the lithping of Thylvia, the rambling of Wishee Washee, the appearances and magicking of the Jini of the Lamp and the rest of the crew.
Stagelights’ production of Aladdin promises to be a great spectacle (in the best possible sense!). Those in the front row are advised that some may be splashed in the Slosh Scene!
Written by Chris Denys and Chris Harris and originally performed at the Theatre Royal in Bath in 1992. Performance dates in Grove are Thursday January 26th to Saturday January 28th (curtain up at 7:30pm) with a matinée performance on Saturday afternoon (curtain up at 2:30pm).
